2026 Annual General Meeting – Online Update
Published 24th August 2026.
Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) is providing this update to Members in response to public communications currently circulating regarding the format of the FY26/27 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
GAC’s position
GAC has not agreed to, nor committed to, a 100% online format for the FY26/27 AGM, contrary to some public statements. GAC has undertaken consultation with key stakeholders, during which a fully online format was raised as a possible future option. This discussion did not constitute agreement or commitment on GAC’s part. GAC received a direction that the FY26/27 AGM be held in a 100% online format. While a degree of consultation took place around this direction, GAC did not agree to it.
It is Gumala’s position that AGM business is best conducted through a hybrid format, combining on-Country presence with appropriate online participation options. This approach reflects GAC’s ongoing commitment to open, transparent and culturally respectful engagement with all Members and Beneficiaries.
On moving online
Gumala is not opposed to an eventual transition to a fully online AGM format. However, GAC considers this should occur as a managed transition over time — one that ensures all Members and Beneficiaries are properly informed of, and prepared for, the change — rather than being introduced as an immediate direction.
On related community consultations
GAC notes that separate, independently communicated on-Country community consultations have recently been proposed. whilst GAC supports the on-country community consultations that have been proposed through independent communications online, GAC sees these as very separate and independent of the AGM and AGM process.
Next steps
The GAC Board and leadership team continue to engage with key stakeholders to reach a suitable outcome for all Members. Further updates will be provided as this matter progresses.
